Melissa Stockwell was the first woman to lose a limb while fighting for the USA in Iraq. After becoming an above the knee amputee, Stockwell has gone on to inspire countless people by becoming the current three time world champion in the sport of paratriathlon as well as by starting the Dare2Tri Chicago Paratriathlon Club on which I have competed for the last two years. Melissa is one of my very special friends. I am so blessed to know her.
